The fourth and final DOMiDLabs exhibition.
Pride, melancholy, joy, but also sadness, nostalgia, anger and shame: sometimes it is objects, sometimes situations, sometimes themes, sometimes stories that can suddenly trigger intense feelings in us - both positive and negative.
Based on objects from the DOMiD collection, Handle with Care is dedicated to different migration stories and the feelings associated with them. The participatory exhibition offers space for visitors to share their own emotions and stories and invites them to share their perspectives and react to the exhibition.
Handle with Care is the final part of the fourth and final DOMiDLab Trigger Warning! Sensitive Objects and Topics in a Multi-Perspective Exhibition. With a focus on our nationwide migration museum being created in Cologne-Kalk, the following questions were addressed: How can objects and stories that trigger strong feelings be exhibited sensitively in an exhibition? Where are these feelings encountered and with which senses are they experienced? How can we as a museum find a creative and spatial way of dealing with feelings?
